Kits on the way?

Monday, December 29th, 2008

I’m pretty sure Solar is in labor or will be very soon .. . unfourtanetly, she hates me being there so I’m leaving her be. I would set up a video camera or something but I can’t find it. :(

Keep her in your thoughts please! I’d love some blue eyed babies in my rabbitry!

Catching up!

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

So I’ve been TERRIBLE about blogging, sorry, I’m on break, what do you expect?

The news?

1) Kentucky seems to have breeding problems . . . once I get the time to really focus on it, I’m going to give him a through checking over and make sure it’s not just that he’s small or w/e

3) Solar is due on the 30th. She’s inside the house just in case, although the weather has been . . . warm! (how does that work?)

4) Picking up Basil next week! Yay!

Other than that?

Not much! Just the weekly stuff done, I’m hopefully going to do some bunnyish stuff this week. Last week was crashing and was spent being sick, writing and watching movies.

4 Kings Rabbitry had a blog post on rabbitry expensives so I thought I’d throw out a bit of info I have for my own rabbitry:

Cages – $80, $30, $60, $40 – total cages: 21 (all wire with trays) total spent: $210

Cages are something I’m very satisfied with. 3 of the cages I have can be over $200 (not sure of their current price) and since I don’t have space for any more cages, I’m fairly certain I can say my cages are complete. :)

Supplies – water bottles, brushes, food bowls, nestboxes, etc -  Total spent: (aprox.) $50

I was very lucky in that a lot of my supplies was free or cheap . . . however, the full price items do add up

Shed – FREE!

Rabbits – over $500 dollars, yup – that’s where it gets expensive for me! but to be fair, I have sold a lot and made some money. ;)

Total spent:

Aprox: $760

and I’m a youth breeder so this doesn’t include electricity, things my parents got me as presents, etc.

Rabbits are expensive. o_O

I’ll keep y’all updated on Solar . . . she’s definetly got something in her tummy!

Hope everyone is having an AWESOME break!

New Blog

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Kayla asked me to check out her blog so I thought you guys should too! :)

http://www.sunsetrabbitry.blogspot.com/

I’m going to add it to my links hopefully . . . I may forget.

Hannah’s buck is fine she said. :) He had an abscess but it drained without needing any extra work. Thank you all for thinking of her!

I’m the one in the over-sized gray jacket. I believe I’m showing Morgan (blue jacket) and Erin (black) my babies. <3

the show chaos!

That’s me at the AFL table . . . I was REALLY nervous for Georgia

Chris Howell – my favorite judge I think. I can’t really say I like his input on NDs but on all the other breeds I like it. Plus, he gave a BIS youth to a polish . . . that must be a first.

The person on the left of me is Whitney of Suburban Bunnies, the person on the  right had the BOB jersey wooly for open. This was open BIS judging.

And that’s it for the show!

Sorry, not very exciting I know!

rabbits-dec-6th-show-and-updated-pictures-for-blog-and-site-043

Today I was taking pictures for the site (shocking I know!) so I put these three out because they all get along (Blackberry, Coconut, Kentucky) But, as this picture shows, Coconut was more than getting along! She decided it was time to breed.

I gave Kentucky a chance, but he didn’t seem to get it. I think he might be too young, so I tried Coconut with my broken black otter buck I got in the raffle, I’ll explain why I paired them in another post.

Suffice it say, it worked so I should be getting another litter on the 17th of Jan. :)

That’s all folks!

Crazyness!

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

So last week I complained of so many bunnies for sale and no buyers, of course, this week I got an influx.

My “bunny schedule” is getting filled up!

1) Person coming to see a hutch (one of the three I no longer use) later, she’s interested in buying a rabbit (4-H)

2) Person picking up Pure Magic on Christmas Eve

3) Person coming this Thursday to see the bunnies and pick one up.

4) Butter Than You will be going to a breeder in Jan. at the same time I pick up RBB’s Basil (pictured in the last post)

So yeah, only four people, but with my hectic schedule it’s a lot! :P It’s good though, I enjoy being busy and I love seeing rabbits go to great homes.

At ABC Rabbitry things are going well this week! I’m hoping to get some pictures (like that’s going to happen!) don’t forget to update your blogs!

And remember Hannah and Mini Paws Rabbitry who’s only buck is at the vet. :(

In Case You Are In Any Doubt . . .

of the cuteness of blue eyed whites . . .

Could you EVER say “No!” to that cute, chunky, little face?

I couldn’t.

Hence why my BEW program is already taking over! AH!

I absolutely adore them!

And they’re very popular pets. ;)

My first BEW potential litter . . . *drum roll*

is due on: December 30th!!

So close, yet so far!

Please note: The outstanding quality (and cuteness!) of my BEWs is due to Christie Riddle (www.riddlesbunnybarn.com) who has spent years perfecting hers.

Should I or Shouldn’t I?

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

So I’m going to ask around other places than here, but I’m wondering . . .

on my site there are three bunnies that “greet” you.

The black one on the bottom of all pages is my very first rabbit.

The gray one on the right side is my second rabbit and my very first buck.

The gray one on the left side is a BUB from my first litter.

Of course, this is a mile stone for me. Whenever I look at my site I can remember my bunnies and see how far I’ve come, however, I feel as if it might be setting the wrong impression.

Should I be putting my best rabbits up there so people can see the quality I have? Should I put the rabbits that are the colors I’m breeding?

So . . . should it stay the same or change? And if it should change, to what?

Thanks guys! :) Pictures might be coming later!

Show/No Sales/Updates

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

The show was awesome! I knew a lot of people there and it was fun!

Results:

Roseline’s Wish 3/3 – broody little doe :P

RBB’s Powder – 1/3 – BOV (not enough for a leg :P )

RTR’s Blackberry – BOSV, BOSG – on a litter too! *claps* I believe she got a leg

RTR’s Kentucky – BOV/BOG – !!!!! otter is sooo competitive I’m exteremely happy about this!! He definetly got a leg!

And Georgia’s my special little doe – she got BOB for American Fuzzy Lop!

I was sooo worried, because she tends to pull her ears back and makes them look terrible. But she sat perfectly for the judge and he even commented on her nice ears! xD

I got comments on my latest litter:

buck (Dark Knight) – BIG, slopes off too soon, but great head

black doe – Robin – smaller but also slopes off too soon

black otter doe -renamed Penelope – best of the litter (my keeper for sure!)

I got several offers on them but none of them are old enough to leave yet.

Also, I won a raffle bunny – a little buck, pet but cute.

Other than that – one way or another ALL of my sales fell through. :( Which means I have 6 to 8 (counting Dark Knight and Robin) rabbits for sale again! *sigh* and just when it was clear!

Frustrating, but that’s life!

Nothing else is really new, actually, I’m sure there is but I’m really tired (it’s almost ten) so I’ll just close with something humerous (this made me laugh – came in an email to my mom today)

Alison is a very charming young lady and I always enjoy speaking with her when I see her coming around the corner.  She certainly seems to be an ambitious one with her variety of talents

That made my day! Don’t know how funny it is for you guys but it was for me. ;)

g2g! I’ll ttyl!

Finalizing

Friday, December 5th, 2008

What I did:

1) print directions to and from the show

What I need to do (either tonight or tomorrow morning):

1) Print show catalog (again, just in case)

2) Make a list of who I’m bringing

3) Put together pedigrees on any rabbits that might be sold

4) Make a list of who I’m meeting

5) Pack everyone

6) Pack (and bring) some sort of snacks

7) Make a potential list of rabbits I’m interested in buying

8) Bring food and water bottles (for bunnies)

9) Pen and paper to record every one else’s winnings

Probably a lot more that I can’t think of! xD

I’m really excited about this show! I don’t think I’ll win anything (Powder = molting, Wish = molting, Kentucky = looks too skinny, Blackberry = out of condition (litter), Georgia = looks bad on table (folds her ears) and molting)

BUT, my friends will do great, I’m sure, and I’ll have so much fun seeing people!

I’ll probably blog tomorrow afternoon/evening if I’m not sleeping.

Good luck to everyone going!

Last minute things

Friday, December 5th, 2008

My numbers of rabbits that I’m bringing to the show tomorrow is changing constantly! I can’t decide if I should bring some to try to sell, or save room in case I want to buy.

Complications, complications.

Another crazy week is almost over. Besides homework, rabbit chores, and this rabbit show nothing else is planned. Sleep will reign in my life.

Catch you all later!
