Show/No Sales/Updates

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

The show was awesome! I knew a lot of people there and it was fun!

Results:

Roseline’s Wish 3/3 - broody little doe :P

RBB’s Powder - 1/3 - BOV (not enough for a leg :P)

RTR’s Blackberry - BOSV, BOSG - on a litter too! *claps* I believe she got a leg

RTR’s Kentucky - BOV/BOG - !!!!! otter is sooo competitive I’m exteremely happy about this!! He definetly got a leg!

And Georgia’s my special little doe - she got BOB for American Fuzzy Lop!

I was sooo worried, because she tends to pull her ears back and makes them look terrible. But she sat perfectly for the judge and he even commented on her nice ears! xD

I got comments on my latest litter:

buck (Dark Knight) - BIG, slopes off too soon, but great head

black doe - Robin - smaller but also slopes off too soon

black otter doe -renamed Penelope - best of the litter (my keeper for sure!)

I got several offers on them but none of them are old enough to leave yet.

Also, I won a raffle bunny - a little buck, pet but cute.

Other than that - one way or another ALL of my sales fell through. :( Which means I have 6 to 8 (counting Dark Knight and Robin) rabbits for sale again! *sigh* and just when it was clear!

Frustrating, but that’s life!

Nothing else is really new, actually, I’m sure there is but I’m really tired (it’s almost ten) so I’ll just close with something humerous (this made me laugh - came in an email to my mom today)

Alison is a very charming young lady and I always enjoy speaking with her when I see her coming around the corner.  She certainly seems to be an ambitious one with her variety of talents

That made my day! Don’t know how funny it is for you guys but it was for me. ;)

g2g! I’ll ttyl!

Finalizing

Friday, December 5th, 2008

What I did:

1) print directions to and from the show

What I need to do (either tonight or tomorrow morning):

1) Print show catalog (again, just in case)

2) Make a list of who I’m bringing

3) Put together pedigrees on any rabbits that might be sold

4) Make a list of who I’m meeting

5) Pack everyone

6) Pack (and bring) some sort of snacks

7) Make a potential list of rabbits I’m interested in buying

8) Bring food and water bottles (for bunnies)

9) Pen and paper to record every one else’s winnings

Probably a lot more that I can’t think of! xD

I’m really excited about this show! I don’t think I’ll win anything (Powder = molting, Wish = molting, Kentucky = looks too skinny, Blackberry = out of condition (litter), Georgia = looks bad on table (folds her ears) and molting)

BUT, my friends will do great, I’m sure, and I’ll have so much fun seeing people!

I’ll probably blog tomorrow afternoon/evening if I’m not sleeping.

Good luck to everyone going!

Last minute things

Friday, December 5th, 2008

My numbers of rabbits that I’m bringing to the show tomorrow is changing constantly! I can’t decide if I should bring some to try to sell, or save room in case I want to buy.

Complications, complications.

Another crazy week is almost over. Besides homework, rabbit chores, and this rabbit show nothing else is planned. Sleep will reign in my life.

Catch you all later!

Life is just peachy

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

Well, it isn’t outside of rabbits. I’m in one of those I-think-I’m-going-to-fail-high-school weeks/months and so I’m nervous and stressed and my back aches and I’m getting sick. Gah.

BUT, rabbit-wise it’s pretty nice. :) All the rabbits are doing great. and, I’ll get to take them to a nursing home as Therapy Animals with my 4-H group (it’s always something I wanted to do and thankfully the 4-H group thought it was a nice idea! xD) I’m hoping I can do that regularly. I think rabbits are great therapy animals. :)

Some news . . .

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Nothing drastic went on at the bunny barn this week. It got cleaned today, though, and I have a mating!!!

RBB’s Powder x Teaberry’s Solar

BEW . . . . . . . . . . Black Otter

This is sooo exciting! Babies due right at the end of December (if she did take).

I really think my breeding schemes *may* have helped. On the other hand, I tried Wish with Kentucky and Wish was a total jerk, going so far as to mount poor Kentucky. He was so confused and hurt! I gave him so extra hay and cuddles while I glared at Wish.

I’m almost thinking of selling her . . . if she won’t mate, I have no use.

I’m very excited about my BEW first litter though! *suppresses happiness*

The only other major thing is that break will be officially over tomorrow.

Wow, it went by fast! It was loads of fun but I really didn’t get much done!

Monday - foot doctor, movies, friend

Tuesday - movies, reading, friend

Wednesday - movies, ice skating

Thursday - Thanksgiving!, saw Bolt - loved it!

Friday - shopping, writing

Today - bunny chores, shopping (food), friend, movie

and just like that . . . BOOM! Time to get back in to the choas I know as school.

Next weekend is a show, and it looks like we’ll have a nice turn out!

Thanks for updating your blogs guys! I enjoy reading them (even if I’m really bad about updating mine! :P)

Breeding Schemes

Friday, November 28th, 2008

All this talk of breeding and babies got me to be devious, so today, following Christie Riddel’s advice (thanks!) I put Powder, Solar, Kentucky, Triple Chocolate Kiss, Wish, and R.P. in a carrier (one of those that holds 6) and put it downstairs. I’m hoping the smell of bucks will get the does excited. I’m also going to try breeding after 8 tonight (something new) and the does will have to go in the bucks cages, no exceptions.

The lights have been having a strict schedule of on at 8 am and off at 9 pm, or on at 7 am and off at 8 pm, basically making sure there’s 13 hours of light per day.

I’m hoping for willing does tonight, and if not tonight, in the future.

I sent in my show form for Richmond (Dec. 6th) on Wednesday.

I’ll be bringing (hopefully!):

RTR’s Kentucky - he’s kinda skinny so I’ll try to be fattening him up this week!

RBB’s Powder- such a pretty boy!

RTR’s Blackberry - I’m not sure how she’ll do since she’s nursing a litter!

Roseline’s Wish - molting but getting over it, if I’m lucky she’ll be in condition.

and finally, Lyle Creek’s Goergia.

I’ll be seeing all my ND friends and meeting a top AFL breeder (might be picking up some new ones! =D)

Life’s pretty good at the bunny barn.

Break was great, I can’t wait for Christmas. xD

If I could I would

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

If I could breed my does, I would. They just won’t breed.

But if I could . . . I would like to breed:

BEWs

RBB’s Powder x Teaberry’s Solar

They compliment each other and would give me VMs.

Otter

RTR’s Kentucky x Roseline’s Wish

I’d love to see what this would get me. A chocolate otter to a black. Both small with nice type. *sigh*

RTR’s Kentucky x RTR’s Blackberry

ditto to above

RTR’s Kentucky x SS’s R.P.

R.P is a brood with awesome thick ears. That’s Kentucky’s only fault. Love to see what I’d get.

RTR’s Kentucky x RTR’s T.C.K.

Chocolate otter to otter. Pretty colors. :)

AFL

Fuzzy x Lyle Creek’s Georgia

I have Fuzzy at my house. He’s in love with Georgia, but the idiot is being a complete jerk. (Georgia that is)

Other rabbits:

Teaberry’s Sunkist - going to a friend

two juniors - selling to a pet home (most likely)

Butter - two sale pendings (in case one falls through)

Oregano - BEW, too young to breed

Mrs. Bun Buns - inquiry

Tigerlily found a new home. :) No more lionheads. Man, it’s good in the rabbitry here. (except for the litter problem.)

Back again, back again, jiggedy jig

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

I’m back! Risen from the dead, so it seems.

School was insane this week and exhausting. I’m so glad it’s Saturday!!! I still have homework but I haven’t even started it yet. *whistle*

Rabbitry News!:

Tigerlily is on her way to her new home (mom’s taking her)

TinkerBelle and Capun Hook will be dropped off later today

Two rabbits (not three - one died :( ) will be picked up today!!!! :) yay for BEWs!

My litter now has names! We have . . .

Dark Knight

Rachelle

and Robin

If you don’t get it you can guess on the theme. ;)

I’ve been very busy so there’s not much new on the “rabbit front”

On my to do list is to:

Clean up the bunny barn (”tidy”)

Clean all the cages

Clip bunny nails

Play with babies.

Oh yeah, I’m also rejoining 4-H and doing the rabbit club. :) So projects for rabbits that I might be doing is:

1) Taking bunnies to a nursing home (therapy animals)

2) Talking about breeding

3) Agility! (bunny jumps!)

Sounds like fun!

I’m SOOO glad Thanksgiving break is here!!!! I can SLEEP IN!

*falls asleep just thinking about it*

ttyl guys!

A Hard Choice

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Well, I did make a big decision today, something that’s been floating around in the back of my head for a while.

I’m switching one of my color groups. Changing from Orange to BEW.

The hardest part will be letting go of Butter. Only two rabbits cannot be used in my otter program, Sunkist and Butter. Sunkist is already taken, but is not yet. Man, I’m going to miss that guy. He has the looks and the personality. He just doesn’t have the color. I’m contemplating keeping him as a pet, but I already have Mrs. Bun Buns and Tigerlily, and not enough space.

I love orange, I really do. But I just feel like I got off on the wrong foot. I’ll try BEW, if I don’t like it, I can try something else, or go back to orange. So now, Morgan at midnightbunnies.com will be supreme orange breeder in this area. I’m sure she’ll be fantastic, she has such goregous bunnies!

So . . .

I am getting three goregous BEWs! When Dennis of Spring Creek Gems told me they were good, I just had to have them. So I’m picking them up (I believe) next weekend. As well as a lot of other rabbitry supplies that will come in handy!

That is, of course, the biggest rabbitry news of the day/week.

I’m going to go read all your blogs now! It’s been an exhausting week and I only have a little bit of homework to do tomorrow (YAY!) so I’m happy.

Camera, Action! . . . lights?

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

I just may have solved the biggest problem I have at the moment. That is, getting my does to breed.

The solution? Run the lights on 24 hours for a few days in a row. Ah! Sheer genius! Lighting does effect rabbits, but I just didn’t connect the dots.

I’ll be trying that this weekend.

On that note, I’ve decided to do some line breedings. Blackberry’s little buck is so amazingly awesome (so far) that if it goes according to plan, I’ll do a linebreeding with him and Blackberry.

I have yet to draw up some charts and make some analysis.

Also, awarding to me by Hannah (Mini Paws Rabbitry) and possibly Tru Luv Rabbitry (I think he added me to his blog list a few days after he gave this out but *shrugs* )

Is the:

If you read this blog it’s yours. If your blog isn’t on my blog list PLEASE let me know so I can add it. I love reading about rabbits and would love to read about yours!

Life is hectic for me, take today for example, I spent the early morning hours doing homework due today, than did my marine biology weekly class, my geometry weekly class, my history/literature weekly class, and went to a lecture on India arriving home just a little while ago.

Tomorrow will be another long day when I’ll be out for 10 hours and now I’m behind in homework.

Sigh, sometimes I wish I could skip a couple years . . .

More rabbitry news?:

1) Solar’s little kit didn’t make it. :( Nose issues I think, probably complications to being born so late

2) Tigerlily got some more inquries . . . I need to respond and see what’s up!

there’s definetly more but I’m tired and need to get a lot of sleep, so I’ll call it a night.

Special thoughts go out Lindsey with her litter complications. We’re all thinking of you here!
